Detailed initial situation

This project is located in Doha, capital of Qatar, where several soccer stadiums have been built to host the 2022 World Cup. STF has collaborated in some of them.

Of the various stadiums in which STF has participated, it is worth mentioning the Albayet stadium, where a 9x4DL disc filtration system was installed.

The application of the head in this case has been for the protection of the irrigation system.

The challenge

The main challenge of this project was to integrate a solution for the protection of the stadium's irrigation system, not only for the playing field but also for the gardens around the stadium, present and possible future additions. To this end, a design was proposed that would meet the current needs of the complex and possible future expansions.

Another of the requirements requested by the site management was an automatic disc filter as compact as possible to be able to filter a flow of 218 m³/h protect the irrigation system consisting of sprinklers, drip line and budler.

Gravel Filter systems are perfect for this type of requirements as they can be adapted to any type of situation. Both the components and materials as well as the electrical part of this project are part of the standard solutions offered by STF, which allow to adapt to any filtration requirement as well as to the environment where it is installed.

Solution provided

The solution provided by STF for this project is its automatic disc filter model, specifically the 9x4DL size.

A design pressure of 8.5 bar was required and the filtration system was requested to be able to operate with a design flow rate of between 109 to 218 m³/h max.

The filtration grade provided to meet these requirements is 130 microns.

And the electrical panel with which it will work: Standard 220V panel DESIGN PRESSURE - 8,5 bar

9x4Dl covers the full working range of possible future installations (not all filters are used now, future installations) maximum design flow rate.

Results

The system was commissioned in September 2019, working satisfactorily, providing high performance, protecting the irrigation system and performing the function for which it was designed to perfection.
